Huntersfield Christian Training Center

Instruction in the Word... Inspiration in Fellowship

We invite you to take part in the Huntersfield retreats that are held several times each year.   We offer special training in biblical studies with qualified instructors from Bible colleges and seminaries who provide insight into various books of the Bible, as well as contemporary topics facing Christians today.

The instructors teach from a historical-grammatical perspective whereby the student will learn the meaning of the original text. One can, through participation and application, become more fully-equipped to be an effective layperson, church leader and Christian witness.

WINTER RETREAT ~ PSALMS FOR THE CRISIS TIMES

Date: February 10-12, 2012

Instructor: Dr. Bryan Widbin

Course Description:
Though composed many centuries ago in a culture not our own, the biblical psalms are still a tremendous resource for keeping us on keel, particularly when the harsh winds of life blow.  In our weekend course on the Psalms, we will:

1.  Learn a very straight-forward, hands-on technique for getting at the
heartbeat of each psalm.

2.  Discover the ways in which the psalms impact our emotional resiliency
and move us forward through the dynamics of human life.

See you there!!!

SPRING RETREAT 2012

A Brief History of Christianity

June 1-3, 2012

Instructor: Dr. Larry Poston is Professor of Religion at Nyack College in Nyack, NY. He holds a Ph.D. in the History of Literature of Religions with a concentration in Islamic Studies from Northwestern University.

Course Description:

“When the Times Will Have Reached Their Fulfillment…”

Unlike most of the world’s religions, Christianity is rooted in historical events.  The God of the Bible is a God of history.  With pinpoint precision He is accomplishing a divine purpose conceived before He even began to create (Hebrews 4:3).  And this purpose is proceeding apace.  Galatians 4:4, for instance, tells us that “When the time had fully come, God sent His son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law…”  Even now there is a cosmic “clock” ticking off the seconds, minutes and hours of a plan so intricate that it is beyond the comprehension of human minds.

But to an extent we can see where we as the Body of Christ have been.  We can trace the development of the organism/organization we call “the Church.”  A study of the history of Christianity – however brief – is of vital importance to every Christian.  Such knowledge can contribute greatly to spiritual growth and to sanctification.  Building on the experiences of our brothers and sisters of the previous centuries can perhaps help us avoid the truism of George Santayana’s famous saying:

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
