Huntersfield Christian Training Center

Instruction in the Word... Inspiration in Fellowship

We invite you to take part in the Huntersfield retreats that are held several times each year.   We offer special training in biblical studies with qualified instructors from Bible colleges and seminaries who provide insight into various books of the Bible, as well as contemporary topics facing Christians today.

The instructors teach from a historical-grammatical perspective whereby the student will learn the meaning of the original text. One can, through participation and application, become more fully-equipped to be an effective layperson, church leader and Christian witness.

Spring Retreat ~ May 28-30, 2010

“Post Office Discipleship:”
Paul’s Letters to the Thessalonians

Instructor: Dr. Larry Poston

Course Description:  In the midst of the apostle Paul’s second missionary journey he spent three weeks at a little coastal village on the Aegean Sea called Thessalonica.  His success in converting both Jews and Gentiles to the new Christian faith aroused so much jealousy that he and his companion were driven from the town.  Nevertheless, discipling of the Thessalonian converts was continued by mail, and two of these letters became part of the New Testament scriptures.  Both of these epistles, although short, are profound, and they cover a variety of topics.  Aspects of discipleship and disciplemaking, notes regarding personal sanctification and holiness, teachings regarding the second coming of Christ and events related to that coming, and instructions regarding everyday living—including employment—are only a few of the topics covered in these epistles.  The letters are both intensely personal and intensely practical, and we will explore these aspects in our times together.
